This project involved the development of a Geographical Information System (GIS) database with accompanying overlay maps identifying and categorizing existing and potential historical and cultural sites for the Boston Landmark Commission (BLC), a branch of Boston's Environment Department. Analysis pertaining to landmark status, style of architecture, and construction year were performed to demonstrate the program's capabilities. The maps and database will make evaluating future landmarks and recalling information on registered landmarks much easier and was designed to be a powerful tool to aid in future urban planning in Boston.
