This report analyzes and compares high-rise hotel and cruise vessel fires. Data from incident reports, case studies, and on-site information have been organized into fault trees and Markov chains to facilitate analysis and comparison. The analysis has identified several fire protection methods and systems used in high-rise hotels that can and should be implemented in cruise ships to increase fire safety. Likewise, this study identifies procedures and equipment currently used on cruise ships that could improve high-rise hotel fire safety.
