This report informs the reader about the importance of DNA fingerprinting and the trials and tribulations of accepting this new forensic science in the courtroom. First it explores the science of DNA fingerprinting, an introduction to DNA, techniques used for fingerprinting, collection, analysis, and storage of DNA evidence. Next the reader is brought into the courtroom, where landmark and sensational cases are examined. Finally, this report investigates the controversial subject of DNA databases, and the impact that this technology will have on the future.
