Abstract

With rising global temperatures increasing the severity of extreme storms and escalating flooding, improving the resilience of Cantera, Puerto Rico is critical. This report, prepared for La Compańía para el Desarrollo Integral de la Península de Cantera (CDIPC), assesses analogous case studies and conducts interviews and surveys with key informants to determine appropriate flood resilience strategies. We identified 67 strategies and based on cost, feasibility, and effectiveness, we recommend six flood resilience strategies. These recommendations include both structural and nonstructural projects the CDIPC should address to create a more resilient community in Cantera.
