Lake Fierza, an artificial reservoir in northeastern Albania, suffers from pollution (heavy metals, urban, agricultural, and industrial waste) but lacks publicly accessible data regarding the contaminant levels and sources of pollution. Our project will establish a summer program for university aged students and local residents to sample and monitor Lake Fierza and to educate the local community about the causes and effects of pollution in the lake. We recommended ways Borderless can publicize and run the program, establish community support, monitor pollutant and chemical levels of the lake, as well as publish monitoring data. We created a guidebook that also contained a schedule of activities included in the program and the budget required to host students and run these activities.
