Our team faced the challenge of restarting and improving the design and operation of a small scale biodigester constructed by a WPI team the previous year for Nuestro Huerto, an urban farm in Worcester. We developed methods to produce, filter, collect, and store biogas and used the gas as a cooking fuel. Our work was influenced by a human centered design framework in which we focused our design and improvements on the needs and capacities of our sponsor to maintain and operate the technology.
