Abstract

Over C and D term of 2017, I participated in the student teacher practicum. I served as student teacher at Doherty High School in Worcester, MA. It served as my Interactive Qualifying Project at WPI. In this paper, I will first discuss the new reforms in state laws concerning public education in Massachusetts. Next, all relevant background to Doherty Memorial High to create a picture of what the school’s environment looks like. The major focus will be the six elements of CAP, candidate assessment of performance. All teacher candidates must score proficiency on CAP elements in order to become a licensed teacher in MA. I will go into more details about the strategies and methods I used to achieve each of them. Lastly, I provide analysis on my classes and reflect on my time at Doherty High.
