In this project, an Arena-based simulation model of Staples' current shipping process in Southern California was created and compared to a scenario with fulfillment center (FC) synchronization in which boxes were not processed until all orders for that day were received. Our simulation results indicate that FC synchronization is not a viable option given current incoming box volumes and processing times. This simulation model can be used as a baseline for evaluating other shipping alternatives in the future by Staples.
