Abstract
In this project, we detail the development of an imaging system for biomedical applications utilizing spatial domain optical coherence tomography (OCT). Through spatial OCT, we aimed to quantitatively map the collagen fibers present in the medial layer of the tympanic membrane. It is hypothesized that sound induced displacements of the tympanic membrane are directly related to the anatomical characteristics of these fibers. Results from our spatial OCT images contribute to this hypothesis, which will lead to advancements in hearing mechanics.
