Activation of the innate immune system is important for normal host responses to infections. Mice lacking MyD88, an adaptor molecule essential for signaling by a family of innate immune receptors, were shown to have impaired long-term antibody responses to systemic infection with polyomavirus (PyV). The goal of this MQP was to examine the role of MyD88 in antibody responses to acute respiratory PyV infection and to viral re-challenges.
