Miniemulsions are an important part of drug delivery and cosmetics research. In this MQP, the kinetics of the polymerization of methyl methacrylate (MMA) was followed to try and understand more about this reaction. The droplet sizes of the polymerized miniemulsions were also examined. In this project it was found that the polymerization of MMA was successful at 75C and that increasing the amount of surfactant decreased the droplet size of the miniemulsion and increased the polymer conversion.
