The Role of 14-3-3-Beta in Regulated DAT Trafficking

Recent studies from the Melikian Laboratory demonstrate that KCNK3, a potassium channel found in humans, relies on 14-3-3-Beta for PKC stimulated endocytosis. This MQP examined whether or not the dopamine transporter protein (DAT), a related membrane protein, also relies on 14-3-3-Beta for PKC stimulated endocytosis. Data shows that 14-3-3-Beta co-localizes with DAT at the surface of PC12 cells and suggests that 14-3-3-Beta is needed for DAT PKC induced endocytosis to occur in SK-N-MC cells.
