Clark, William M.
The goal of this project was to develop a lab experiment that students could perform to learn about the 1st and 2nd laws of thermodynamics. The target of analysis was to determine the efficiency of an air powered Tesla turbine. Electrical meters were installed to measure volts and amps output by a generator connected to the turbine. Studies of the turbine efficiency, that represent the backbone of calculations students will perform, found a maximum efficiency of 6%. It was determined that the efficiency could be increased with higher operating pressure.
