Scaling of a Suspension Polymerization Process
PublicDownloadable Content
open in viewerThe goal of this project was to scale down a suspension polymerization reaction from a large scale batch to a pilot plant scale batch. The pilot plant scale batch would be used to troubleshoot large scale problems if and when they occur in the future. The project scope included mathematically scaling down the entire process, ensuring that the pilot plant had the necessary validated equipment to run the process, physically designing the initial experimental tests for the pilot plant, and writing a standard operating procedure that could be executed in the future.
