open in viewerThe main goal of this project is to design and simulate a wireless communication system base on the IEEE 802.11n draft which is expected to be finalized on December 2009. The project has two steps. First, I came up with the design following the requirement in 802.11n draft. A system was built and simulated in Matlab to obtain numerical result such as bit error rate plots and verify the functionality of each block in the design. Second, I rebuilt the whole system in VHDL for simulation and implemented on a FPGA. The transmitter and receiver are put into a single system. Over the air transmission is not considered in this project. The purpose is to determine the feasibility to create a wireless system on FPGA and to evaluate the maximum data rate that can be archived.
