The purpose of this MQP is to develop and implement methods to determine where paclitaxel is stored and produced in Taxus cells. This research is significant to the broader goal of paclitaxel production optimization in that research will inform engineering strategies to increase secretion to extracellular media. This MQP can be divided into four parts: cellular fractionation, organelle analysis through assay development, quantification of paclitaxel, and finally the combination of the data to determine paclitaxel localization.
