Student Work
Developing Fluorescent Aminoazobenzene Metal-Organic Frameworks
PublicDownloadable Content
open in viewerAzobenzene is a functional component used in a wide array of photoresponsive molecules, chelators, and molecular machines. Azobenzene compounds are easily modifiable and cheap to prepare, which present many opportunities for preparation of new materials. Derivatives of aminoazobenzene, named AzoAMpBE and AzoAMpBA, have been developed synthetically for use in design of various fluorescent or photoactive metal-organic frameworks. Encapsulating this Azobenzene moiety in a metal-organic framework yields the possibility for applications in photo-induced molecular release, molecular sensing, and more.
