This Major Qualifying Project was set up to examine the effects of high temperature on pavements. Once indentified the goal was to identify a phase changing material that could successfully be incorporated into the asphalt in order to lower the temperature when exposed to thermal radiation. Three samples, consisting of a control, geo-textile only, and geo-textile with paraffin, were created and subjected various tests utilizing thermal radiation to examine the effects of heat exposure.
