This MQP sought to allow the collection of bee population data while educating the public on the topic of bee diversity. The end goal of the project was to create a citizen science Android phone application that let users log sightings of bumblebees in the northeastern United States. The application was coded in Java using the Android Studio software and libraries. The final application came with three major features: the ability to log a bee, the ability to look up information about local bumblebee species, and the ability to view past submitted logs. The project was successful in creating a base application to accomplish its goals, and the application will be expanded with additional functionality by other project groups in the future.
