This project focuses on the structural analysis and renovation of the Wachusett building on Winter Street in Worcester, Massachusetts. Allowable Stress Design was employed to determine the ability of the building to withstand loads from various multiple use scenarios. Strategies to add structural integrity and strength were investigated where necessary, including the utilization of structural steel beams. Additional study topics included the addition of a cantilever balcony and a fire safety analysis of the building addressing means of egress and the installation of an automatic sprinkler system.
