This project outlines the use of the holographic principle to calculate the Hawking effect of blackholes. The theory is developed for spherically symmetric blackholes by applying the conformal equivalence of blackhole solutions to Minkowski spacetime in regions near the horizon. The theory is then extended to a non-spherically symmetric case of the Kerr solution to show that the application of this method extends past the domain of spherical symmetry.
