This project revisited a nuclear technology, investigated in Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) in the 1960s and 70s, called Molten Salt Reactors (MSRs). For this project, the ORNL reactor design was used to create a system including a primary heat exchanger and steam generator, considering WPI’s steam needs, and the special properties of materials used in an MSR. This project will serve as a starting point for bringing an MSR to WPI. The final project was also translated into Spanish, and investigates the difficulties of translation and its importance in technical fields.
