Abstract

Traditionally thought to be erratic and unpredictable, the prediction of crowd movements has been difficult and inaccurate. Following the original works of Dirk Helbing, this project has created a system with which crowd behaviors and movements can be mapped and predicted. By adding obstacles to his model, we have simulated a more real world environment. With the aid of this system, it may be possible to find ways to decrease the life-threatening dangers that naturally arise within the existence of crowds.
