When the systems onboard an offshore oil platform fail to monitor and control the flow of oil during production, ROVs are used to take the place of these systems. After studying current industry standards for deep sea observational ROVs, the team designed a prototype which can perform similar tasks in shallower waters. This ROV was able to provide feedback from several sensors and was designed as a lightweight open frame with adjustable components and the capacity for an extra payload.
