Abstract

A new subtype of estrogen receptor (ER) ER- has recently been shown to exist in rat prostate cancer cells. But, ER- has not currently [been] detected in human prostate cancer cells. To prove the existence of this new receptor subtype in human prostate cancer cells, three types of human prostate cancer cell lines and one fibroblast cell line were treated with estrogen and anti-estrogen and cell proliferation was measured. The results indicate that ER- exists in human prostate cancer cells.
