Abstract
A variety of techniques have been used in creating submicron fibers. One particular technique that has aroused significant interest in the medical field is electrospinning. The objectives of this work are to investigate the effect of Mw, concentration, and type of solvent on jet breakdown. The results indicate that the transient jet morphology changes from a circular shape to a flat one as the Mw and concentration increase. The extent of jet splitting depends on the type of solvent used.
