Compression garments are the standard of treatment for lower leg edema; however, they are highly clinician dependent. The purpose of this project was to design a compression garment system that provides reproducible compression, is reusable, and can be applied at home by a patient or caretaker. A compression bandage applicator that controls bandage tension during application was designed, manufactured, and tested. It can be adjusted to apply 1.48-2.95 lbf of bandage tension, which was shown to produce 24.7-30.7 mmHg pressure.
