Abstract

Hantaviruses cause human diseases throughout the world that range from mild to highly fatal. Evidence suggests that these capillary leak syndromes are mediated by local cytokine production by infiltrating T lymphocytes. Modeling T cell interactions with hantavirus-infected endothelial cells in vitro required the construction of a recombinant adenovirus expressing human HLA B35.01 and evaluation of previously isolated hantavirus-specific T cells. Also, one hantavirus-specific T cell clone was transiently isolated from convalescent patient blood.
