Abstract

HMA8 has been proposed to export Cu+ out of the cell cytoplasm, HMA8 mutants, caused by T-DNA insertion on the twelfth intron, were identified in Arabidopsis thaliana. The knock out of gene expression was confirmed by RT-PCR, verifying the absence of a transcript coding for the protein. In order to study the subcellular HMA8 localization, transgenic expression of GFP fused HMA8 was used. A vector carrying the transgene and conferring kanamycin resistance was introduced by the floral dip method.
