Abstract

Many pet owners consider their dog part of the family and are willing to invest in the best medical care. This project addresses the lack of canine rehabilitative devices. A spine orthotic device was designed to restore mobility in a canine with an amputated right hind limb. The amputee center of gravity was found. Material testing determined that fiberglass was the optimal semi-rigid material. Singularity functions characterize the loading, shear, moment and rod deflection. The safety factor ensures the guide-bars will not fail in fatigue.
