Abstract

Microreactor flows were studied using software developed by G. A. Bird that uses the DSMC method: a computation technique that allows efficient calculation of rarefied gas flows. Simulations were run to demonstrate how the concentration profiles and gas flows in microreactors depend on the rarefaction of the gas. The primary simulation is a wall catalytic methane combustion reaction to show how gas rarefaction affects conversion. Detailed descriptions of how to run these simulations and the software used are included.
