Abstract

The first objective was to determine whether the discrepancy between pre-surgical goal weight and actual weight loss could predict patients' satisfaction with their post-surgical weight. The second objective was to determine whether patients with childhood-onset obesity choose more moderate goal weights than patients with adult-onset. It was found that as discrepancy increased, satisfaction decreased, but no correlation was found between age of onset and goal weight. This project was done in conjunction with the Massachusetts General Hospital Weight Center.
