Currently, automation is becoming more important to industry, and soon, construction work may be completed by robots. In the construction industry a large amount of resources are used to erect buildings. Increasing automation will help this problem by decreasing the projects time and overall cost. This report presents a design to automate construction using two systems that autonomously build structures. Each system is simple and works with the other to achieve a complex task beyond eithers individual ability. The first system is a distributed control and guidance scaffolding that acts as both the physical support and source of instructions. The other is a mobile builder robot that incrementally adds new scaffolding and building blocks to build the required structures.
