Abstract

The goal of this project was to computationally simulate the flow around the aerodynamic forces on model airdrop platforms. Commercially available FLUENT software was used for this study. Three constructed computational platform models and conditions simulated experiment conditions as closely as possible. Reynolds number, based on free-stream velocity and model chord length was approximately 60,000. K-Epsilon turbulence model was used in the computations. Obtained results from computational simulations were compared for those obtained experimentally.
