Abstract

The goal of this project was to design and test mechanical properties of the coffin bone. The data from these tests were used to generate a stress-strain curve from which the elastic modulus was calculated. The coffin bone samples were rotated and compressed in different directions. The elastic modulus of each direction was compared to determine if the bone is isotropic. The bone was determined anisotropic from the compression tests.
