Abstract
The goal of this project was to design, prototype, and test a stabilization system and deployable boom for a small satellite. The stabilization system overcomes orbital disturbances, and allows for successful data transmission. The chosen stabilization system consists of five permanent magnets. The boom extends three magnetometers that measure the Earth's magnetic field. The selected boom consists of three 2.5 m steel tape measure blades attached to a deployment device mounted within the satellite.
