Abstract

The goal of this project was to develop an accurate model to predict a coater's behavior during the EB-PVD process at Pratt & Whitney in East Hartford, Connecticut. This was achieved by analysis of data, examination of shadow factors, and experiments done with a newly redesigned light box. These helped to facilitate a better understand of the contoured thermal barrier coatings of turbine blades and will lead to the creation of a rules-based software package.
