Hoffman, Allen H.
The goal of this study is to investigate the effects of an Ankle-Foot-Orthosis (AFO) when applied to non-amputee subjects that are put through a series of trials conducted on a flat surface and stairs. During stair ambulation with an AFO the subjects experience delays in gait stance time and elevated ground reaction forces when compared to trails conducted with healthy limbs. The experiment confirms that ambulation on stairs is affected when restricted ankle motion is present due to an AFO.
