Abstract

The objective of this project is to develop a radio frequency coil for high-field magnetic resonance imaging based on the TEM resonator model. The operational frequency of this coil is 500 MHz corresponding to a static magnetic field strength of 11.74 Teslas. Steps towards designing and building a first run prototype will include: simulation and optimization, procuring parts and materials, assembly, bench testing, and finally site testing in an 11.7 T MRI system at the National Institute of Health in Bethesda, MD.
