Abstract
The objective of this project was to evaluate the Obtura II root canal device in terms of temperature control and design ergonomics. Experiments were conducted to measure the temperature profiles in the device during heating and to estimate the hand forces during operation. The results indicate that the temperature control is inadequate and that the current design does not meet ergonomic standards. A potential modification [has] been suggested to overcome these shortcomings.
