Abstract

The project objective was to research, design, and implement a temperature-control device for an MRI. Using an iterative design process, an optimal solution was chosen. A heater-fan system, controlled by a voltage algorithm, controlled the animal's temperature at a user-defined value. The algorithm mimicked a critically damped response with minimum overshoot. Experiments tested system functionality, on water bottles and rats. The results were analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively. It was concluded that the design met all project specifications and objectives.
