Abstract

The purpose of this project was to develop a rapid, inexpensive, shop-floor test to determine the degree of bead fusion in polystyrene foams. A testing apparatus was designed, built according to ASTM standards, and used to determine the bead fusion in commercial foams. The results indicate that the device was able to differentiate between various levels of fusion in the foam patterns.
