Abstract

This double-blind placebo controlled clinical study evaluated the effects of testosterone elevation via precursor loading in weight-training subjects. Androstenediol, 19-Norandrostenedione, and a combination of Androstenediol and Norandrostenediol were administered to 37 subjects following a strict diet and training protocol over a 5-week interim. Qualitative questionnaires and non-invasive procedures, such as body-fat composition testing with a skinfold caliper, systolic/diastolic blood pressure readings, and resting/active pulse rates, were used to determine specific and nonspecific effects. The results assess whether hormonal precursor supplementation produces increased lean mass gains in weight-training athletes.
