This project focuses on the design of a device to be used in minimally invasive spine surgery for implantation of an engineered nerve tissue into individuals who suffer from spinal cord injuries. This device will deliver a mixture of nerve cells and tri-block copolymer hydrogel, that when implanted, is intended to reconnect nerve impulses in a damaged spinal cord. This device considers the unique composite makeup of the biomaterial and the critical anatomy of a damaged spinal region.
