Abstract
This report documents the initial development of interfacing circuitry for AMT Ireland's endeavour to create a hand-held food safety monitoring instrument using electronic nose sensors. The circuitry accommodates an array of up to 64 composite polymer sensors, detects sensor resistance changes as small as 100 parts per million (ppm), measure ambient temperature and humidity conditions, and provides a bidirectional serial interface for instruction and data reporting to a desktop or pocket PC.
