Abstract

To identify segments of the supervirulent genome required to develop the symptom severity of the original isolated mutant, different regions of turnip crinkle virus (TCV) are being replaced with the same regions of TCV-SV. In addition, random mutagenesis of wild-type TCV has been done to identify additional sites which, when mutated, will result in a resistance-breaking phenotype in Arabidopsis thaliana Di-17. Four new resistance-breaking strains have been isolated and are being characterized.
