Design of a Buoyancy Compensation Device and Prosthetic Flipper for a Green Sea Turtle
PublicDownloadable Content
open in viewerThis project focused on Rocky, a green sea turtle, who lost his front right flipper in a boating accident. Rocky also has a buoyancy disorder, which inhibits him from swimming naturally. This project developed a floatation device to counteract Rocky's buoyancy disorder as well as a prosthetic flipper to imitate his healthy flipper. The team also created a generalized process, demonstrated in an instructional pamphlet and video, that can be used to assist in making prosthetics for other sea turtles.
