Our project centered on extracting antibiotics from bacterial producers, identifying the producer species, and analyzing the structural features and chemical properties of the produced antibiotic. Four of our bacteria isolates produced antibiotics that were successfully extracted. The producer genera were determined to be Sphaerochaeta, Gramella, Aminivibrio, and Leptotrichia. Structural features and molecular weights of the antibiotics these bacteria produce were determined and these bacteria were postulated to produce D-cycloserine, a macrolide, 5-azaticide, and amikacin hydrate respectively given our data.
