Directed evolution is a powerful tool used to create improved proteins. Despite its promise, the growing complexity of directed evolution systems limits their transferability. This paper details a Bacterial Non-Continuous Evolution model (BaNCE) that aims to conserve the power of directed evolution while simplifying the process to make it accessible to a wider group of researchers. In addition to its design, experiments were performed to investigate the potential of this system and outline future steps for its development.
