open in viewerFirepots and their alcohol based gel fuels have been taken off the market due to the large number of incidents involving their use. Utilizing mechanical means, the project group modified the existing single use gel canister and designed new safety oriented structures to reduce the probability of future incidents. By incorporating meshing into the current design of the gel container, testing of various scenarios showed a significant reduction in the amount of gel fuel released from the can.
